Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, is venturing into the world of gaming. He shared his plan to build his own AI game studio. When announcing this move on X, he explained that the purpose is to enhance the quality of games and "make games great again". Musk believes it has been damaged by corporate control.

This announcement comes after Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, criticized the current state of gaming. Markus is disappointed that game developers and journalists have become "captured by the consciousness." Gamers, who have been opposed to greed and manipulation by developers, now see these in the industry. Elon Musk often speaks out against the approach to DEI in modern gaming Musk, a long-time gamer and a top Diablo 4 gamer, often speaks out about the game industry's moves towards political correctness and ethical signals. He opposes the introduction of pronouns and diverse content into major video games, a trend he sees as emerging. Modern gaming has turned this approach into a common storytelling method, and it has made players angry. After the messy launches of games like Suicide Squad, Justice League, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, gamers are increasingly encouraged to speak out against what they perceive as a decline in quality. AI can help reduce the time and cost usually spent on AAA games. By launching an AI studio, Musk's plan could help gamers bring games to the shelves significantly faster than traditional AAA studios. These large-budget game companies take five to ten years to release new games, leading to the potential for faster AI implementation in games. Mark Kern, also known as Grummz, former team lead at World of Warcraft, has praised Musk's announcement. This year, AA games are outperforming AAA games, Kern points out. According to him, the high cost, risk, and large team, along with the budget behind AAA games, are inefficient and often lead to recycled ideas. Meanwhile, smaller AA studios with budgets ranging from $40 to $70 million are generating higher profits and leading sales. It was previously revealed that xAI will soon release a standalone consumer app, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT app. Users will be able to access xAI's Grok chatbot on their devices using the app. The application, which sources say will be launched after xAI's next round of fundraising, is expected to raise $5 billion. This funding round will value the company at $50 billion. According to reports, as a reward for their support, Musk is said to have offered xAI investors 25% of the shares. These investors have supported his $44 billion bid to acquire Twitter.
