FTX Founder Gives Solana Advice to Guardians - Coin Newsletter
Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, could face decades in prison.
According to the NY Times, Sam Bankman-Fried's lawyers sent a letter to the court yesterday requesting that his prison sentence be limited to six and a half years.
Bankman-Fried, who will be charged with several different crimes, including fraud, could face up to 110 years in prison.
Federal prosecutors will submit a recommendation to the court no later than March 15 about how much punishment should be imposed on Bankman-Fried. Experts estimate that the founder of FTX could be sentenced to between 30 and 35 years in prison.
Judge Lewis A. Kaplan will make a decision on the matter on March 28.
Bankman-Fried has been held in Brooklyn since last summer. According to people familiar with the matter, Bankman-Fried gave advice to the guards there about the cryptocurrency market and advised them to invest in Solana (SOL).
FTX was among Solana's biggest backers before it went bankrupt.
