OpenAI and Microsoft Face a New Lawsuit: Things Are Escalating!

While many legal battles continue to come to the fore in the field of artificial intelligence, OpenAI** and Microsoft have been sued by Nicholas Basbanes and Nicholas Gage, who are known for their identity as authors. The authors allege that their work was improperly used to train OpenAI's ChatGPT and other AI services, constituting copyright infringement.

As Koinfinans.com reported, The New York Times has sued OpenAI and Microsoft for allegedly misusing its journalists' work for AI training.

According to Reuters, the lawsuit reinforces a growing trend with other lawsuits alleging misuse of the work of several authors, including comedian Sarah Silverman and "Game of Thrones" writer George R.R. Martin.

OpenAI and Microsoft officials did not make any statements about the lawsuits.

The legal battle intensified when The New York Times filed a landmark lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft on December 27, 2023. The media firm had filed the lawsuit, alleging that its journalists' work was used without permission to train artificial intelligence technologies, including ChatGPT.
