The Ripple company shared the views of renowned lawyer John E Deaton on how XRP might be affected if it loses the lawsuit filed against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Deaton stated that Ripple will appeal the case and therefore it may take years for results to be obtained. He also said that he believes Ripple will win the case if it reaches the Supreme Court, and that will not happen unless Congress clarifies the regulatory status of cryptocurrencies. Deaton stated that the current Supreme Court does not recognize XRP as a security and believes the SEC's actions are arbitrary and unfair. Further, Deaton also touched upon the compensation lawsuit filed by XRP holders against Ripple, saying that if the SEC wins, this case will weaken and XRP holders will be offered a fund to sell their XRP back. Deaton urged XRP holders not to panic and remain optimistic about the outcome of the SEC lawsuit.
