The National Development and Reform Commission confirms that Blockchain is an important component of the new infrastructure and promotes technological innovation.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission held a routine online press conference, during which Wu Hao, director of the Department of Innovation and High Technology Development, responded to questions related to the construction of new infrastructure.

Wu Hao stated that the new infrastructure mainly covers three aspects:

First is the information infrastructure. This mainly refers to the infrastructure formed based on the development of a new generation of information technology, including communication network infrastructure centered around 5G, the Internet of Things, industrial Internet, and satellite Internet, emerging technology infrastructure represented by artificial intelligence, cloud computing, blockchain, etc., as well as computing power infrastructure primarily consisting of data centers and intelligent computing centers.

The second is integrated infrastructure. This refers to the new type of infrastructure formed by upgrading and transforming traditional infrastructure through the in-depth application of technologies such as the Internet, big data, and artificial intelligence, such as intelligent transportation infrastructure and smart energy infrastructure.

The third is innovative infrastructure. This mainly refers to infrastructure with public welfare attributes that support scientific research, technology development, and product development, such as major scientific and technological infrastructure, educational and scientific infrastructure, and industrial technology innovation infrastructure.

It is worth noting that as early as December 2018, during the Central Economic Work Conference, infrastructure construction was redefined, incorporating 5G, artificial intelligence, industrial internet, internet of things, and more into the category of "new infrastructure construction." The statement from the National Development and Reform Commission further clarifies the important position of blockchain technology in the new infrastructure, listing it as a crucial component of new infrastructure.

This series of measures indicates that our country is actively promoting the construction of new infrastructure to meet the needs of economic and social development in the new era, laying a solid foundation for future technological innovation and industrial upgrading.
