Norwegian company also said "Bitcoin": they will make a 1.2 billion dollar purchase
Norwegian marine mining company Green Minerals announced that it will invest up to 1.2 billion dollars to create a Bitcoin reserve. The company stated that it will announce the $1.2 billion investment it will make with its partners within a few days.
'Protection against inflation...'
Green Minerals Chairman Stale Rodahl emphasized that Bitcoin is a decentralized asset that provides protection against inflation in his statement, saying that they believe this strategy will preserve the company's long-term financial strength.
Rodahl also expressed that Bitcoin accumulation is a supportive step for the company's main projects, but the core business areas have not changed. Green Minerals is extracting rare earth elements from the depths of the seas.
Cryptocurrency mining is being debated
Northern countries have been discussing the energy consumed by Bitcoin mining and operations for years. Last week, the Norwegian government also stated in an announcement that it was considering imposing a temporary ban on high-energy-consuming crypto mining operations. The government emphasized the need to redirect the electricity spent on crypto mining to areas that will provide 'more benefit to society.'
In Norway, in 2021, a complete ban on crypto mining was desired, but the proposal did not pass the parliament.
Similar offers have been made in Sweden, and there was even a demand for mining to be banned across the EU, but this did not happen.
