According to Techub News and reports from the Associated Press, the Czech government has withstood a no-confidence vote initiated by the main opposition party due to a Bitcoin-related scandal. In the 200-seat lower house of Parliament, only 94 opposition lawmakers voted in favor of dismissing the four-party coalition government led by conservative Prime Minister Petr Fiala. After two days of debate, at least 101 votes were needed to overturn the government.

The main opposition party led by populist billionaire Andrej Babiš called for the vote after the Ministry of Justice accepted Bitcoin donations earlier this year and sold them for nearly 1 billion Czech korunas (about 47 million dollars). Justice Minister Pavel Blažek resigned on May 30 due to the incident and was succeeded by Eva Decroix on June 10. Blažek stated that he was not aware of any wrongdoing but did not want the coalition to be harmed by the scandal. Fiala expressed his belief that Blažek acted in good faith. Decroix stated that she would order an independent investigation into the Ministry of Justice's activities regarding the incident.
