What is the latest status in the potential Altcoin season? Experienced analyst shared his insights!
Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe made noteworthy statements regarding the frequently asked question by investors, "when is the altcoin season?" Van de Poppe stated that the current cycle is progressing quite differently from past years and that investor psychology is one of the most important determinants of this process.
According to Van de Poppe, the term altcoin season carries a much deeper meaning than it appears on the surface. The analyst, who said, "If you are entering the market during altcoin season as an investor, you have likely missed the biggest profit opportunities," argued that the real gains are made by those who position themselves at the lowest levels of the market.
Van de Poppe reminded that there was a memecoin frenzy throughout 2024, but many altcoins lost value. The analyst, stating that the first quarter of 2025 was also quite weak for altcoins, noted that this process has exhausted investors' patience.
Van de Poppe stated that there are two main views in the current market, with one group arguing that we are still in a bear market, while the other group believes we are at the beginning of a bull market. He expressed that this divergence has caused many investors to take incorrect positions.
According to the analyst, the current weak performance of altcoins against Bitcoin may herald a transformation, as central banks signal changes in monetary policies and fundamental advancements are taking place in areas like DeFi. The absence of altcoin season signals is concerning according to Van de Poppe.
"The market bottom is usually the point at which people are the most insecure. However, at that very moment, the greatest long-term gains can be achieved," said the analyst, arguing that investors who see this period as an opportunity need to be patient.
