With his statements and moves, Bitcoin (BTC) and the cryptocurrency market is being directed by US President Donald Trump, who has made new statements.
The trade tensions between the US and China, which have been at the center of the cryptocurrency market for months, eased with an agreement reached after weekend talks to keep tariffs at low rates for 90 days.
However, while both sides were shaking hands on the long-awaited trade agreement, President Donald Trump's post stirred things up once again.
Trump, while passing through Qatar as part of his Middle East visit, also mentioned cryptocurrencies in his statements.
Trump, reiterating his support for cryptocurrencies once again, stated that the U.S. is at the forefront of the crypto sector and is leading over China.
In a recent statement, Trump emphasized that his goal is to lead in the field of cryptocurrency, warning that if the U.S. falls behind, China could take the lead in cryptocurrency.
Trump "I want crypto. I think crypto is important because if we don't do it, China will. And they will be ahead. Crypto is new and very popular" said.
As a reminder, after months of escalating tensions, the US and China agreed to reduce their trade tensions. Accordingly, the Chinese government will lower the customs duties on US-origin products from 125% to 10% for a period of 90 days. In return, the US will reduce its 145% tariff on China to 30%.
