The anti-Central Bank Digital Money clause has been incorporated into the must-pass defense bill of the U.S. House of Representatives.
On August 22, The Block reported that a provision against Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) has been incorporated into a defense funding legislation considered "must-pass." This provision has been added to the latest version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in the U.S. House of Representatives. The new chapter in the bill is titled "Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act," and its content is consistent with the bill previously introduced separately by House Majority Whip Tom Emmer. Earlier this summer, the House passed Emmer's bill by a vote of 219 to 210, which aims to prohibit the Fed from directly issuing Central Bank Digital Currency to individuals.
