Czech police arrest dark web founder involved in a $45 million Bitcoin bribery case.

Odaily News The Czech police arrested Tomas Jirikovsky, the founder of the dark web market Sheep Marketplace, who allegedly bribed former Justice Minister Pavel Blazek with 468 BTC (worth $45 million) to evade a prison sentence. This case directly led to Blazek's resignation in May this year. According to local media Deník N, Jirikovsky attempted to escape through the roof during the police raid but was unsuccessful. This Czech programmer was sentenced to 9 years in 2017 for embezzlement, drug, and weapons trafficking, and was paroled in 2021 for good behavior. Investigations show he profited at least 1500 BTC from operating the dark web market. Furthermore, according to Arkham monitoring, the funds involved may have originated from another dark web market Nucleus's wallet. Experts point out that this case once again demonstrates the strong traceability of Bitcoin on-chain transactions. (Cointelegraph)
