[The U.S. Marshals Service Holds Only About 29,000 Bitcoins, Far Below Expectations] According to documents obtained by independent crypto journalist L0la L33tz through the Freedom of Information Act, as of March this year, the U.S. Marshals Service only holds 28,988 Bitcoins, worth approximately 3.4 billion USD, far below the previously estimated holdings scale by the market. Earlier estimates claimed that the total crypto asset holdings of the U.S. government could be as high as 25 billion USD. The Trump administration had ordered the transfer of Bitcoins held by federal agencies to the Treasury Department for management and established a "strategic Bitcoin reserve."
