Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have reached an agreement to pass three cryptocurrency bills after being entangled in a record procedural vote lasting over 9 hours due to a group of far-right lawmakers opposing central bank digital currency (CBDC).

The final vote concluded on Wednesday evening with a narrow margin of 217–212. The group of conservative lawmakers only agreed to vote after a commitment to ban CBDC; however, majority leader Steve Scalise stated that the ban would be included in the must-pass NDAA defense bill.

This week has been referred to by the Republican Party as "Crypto Week," with the aim of passing three bills:

  • CLARITY Act (crypto market structure)
  • Anti-CBDC Surveillance Act ( prohibits CBDC )
  • GENIUS Act ( regulates stablecoin ) — the bill that President Donald Trump wants to sign before the weekend.

According to PunchBowl News, the House may vote on the GENIUS Act and the CLARITY Act as early as Thursday, but House Speaker Mike Johnson indicated that some bills may be postponed until Friday or next week.
