The European Parliament will vote on the proposal for technological sovereignty in July.

According to a report by Cointelegraph on June 5, Deep Tide TechFlow news states that the European Parliament will vote in July on the technological sovereignty proposal submitted by the Industry, Research and Energy Committee (ITRE) led by pro-Bitcoin member Sarah Knafo.

The non-binding report was approved by ITRE on June 3, calling for the development of a European digital ecosystem policy, pointing out that Europe is lagging behind the United States and China in strategic areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and communication infrastructure. The proposal suggests removing barriers to private investment innovation, promoting energy-efficient computing and blockchain infrastructure, and ensuring digital financial privacy.

Knafo stated: "If all right-wing parties vote in favor, we have a great chance of gaining majority support. But left-wing parties are pressuring center-right parties to stop it." She emphasized that Europe has the engineers and scientists needed to catch up with the United States and China, just requiring the appropriate political framework for them to work in Europe.

Previously, Knafo had spoken out against the ECB's plans for a digital euro and called for the creation of a strategic reserve for Bitcoin.
