Many oil tankers are avoiding lingering in the Strait of Hormuz, either speeding through, suspending navigation, or changing their routes. It was reported that compared to early May, the number of empty oil tankers entering the Strait of Hormuz has decreased by 32% in the past week, and the number of tankers departing from this waterway with cargo has decreased by 27%.

Some oil traders and analysts have reported receiving warnings that multiple vessels are waiting to pass in waters outside the Strait of Hormuz, which may lead to shipping delays. An insurance industry insider stated on the 23rd that the war risk insurance costs for vessels in the Gulf region have increased from 0.2% to 0.3% of the vessel's value to 0.5%.
