It allows for the issuance of financial assets, the trading of these assets, and the creation of new financial products based on them without permission, all of which are very valuable activities. It is possible to capture value from them, but the mechanism for doing so is not yet clear. I still believe it will involve some kind of fee mechanism - in the rollup roadmap, I still believe Ethereum L1 will be the crossroads between all these subdomains, and many valuable activities will continue to take place on it, which will generate valuable fees. (To achieve this, a considerable amount of L1 scaling is needed). Personally, I think it would be best if we focus on building a value-generating ecosystem on Ethereum, and I believe value capture will eventually happen naturally. This doesn't mean I'm not considering it, but it would be a big mistake to focus on it when the value generation part is still lacking. If we have a diversified rollup ecosystem that provides interesting applications to the world, I would consider that a success, but it would be an even greater success if this ecosystem also makes ETH assets more valuable. I know many people think the rollup-centric roadmap will take away fee revenue and MEV from Ethereum and that rollups may ultimately become parasites of Ethereum. I don't think that's true. The highest-value transactions will continue to occur on Ethereum L1, and rollups will expand the pie by providing enough space for users to transact on Ethereum. This relationship will be symbiotic.'
