The Kaia ecosystem welcomes a breakthrough new path: Mini Dapp drives on-chain rise.
Evolution of the Kaia Ecosystem: On-chain Rise Model Centered Around Mini Dapp
1. Overview of the Kaia Blockchain Ecosystem
1.1 Background and Team
Kaia is a new ecosystem formed by the merger of two major blockchain projects, Kakao's Klaytn and LINE's Finschia. Klaytn was launched by Kakao Group's Ground X in June 2019, with early governance alliances including South Korean companies such as LG Electronics and Celltrion. LINE launched the LINK chain in August 2018, which was later renamed Finschia. In August 2024, the two chains will officially merge into the Kaia mainnet, managed by the newly established Kaia DLT Foundation.
Kaia aims to be a high-performance L1 public chain focused on large-scale applications, featuring high TPS and developer-friendly characteristics. Its core advantage lies in the mature SDK and deep integration with KakaoTalk and LINE platforms, supporting decentralized applications to run directly on these social platforms.
1.2 Main Features
Kaia adopts a layered node architecture and utilizes an improved Byzantine fault tolerance consensus algorithm. The network achieves a 1-second block time and instant finality, currently having over 50 consensus nodes, with a theoretical peak throughput of about 4000 TPS. Kaia is EVM compatible and supports smart contracts in the Ethereum ecosystem.
Kaia closely integrates with the LINE instant messaging ecosystem, allowing developers to directly deploy native Dapps within the chat application. In May 2025, Tether will issue native USDT on the Kaia chain, providing users with stablecoin services.
Kaia adopts a sustainable token economic model, with the native token KAIA used to pay transaction fees and incentivize network operation. Kaia supports on-chain governance, allowing adjustments to the annual inflation rate and fee structure based on community resolutions.
2. Progress of Ecological Construction
2.1 Kaia Wave Plan and Mini Dapp Ecosystem
In August 2024, the Kaia mainnet will go live and launch the Kaia Wave program, enabling developers to build Mini Dapps for LINE users through the SDK developed by LINE NEXT. The first batch of Mini Dapp projects will be launched in the first quarter of 2025, covering multiple niche segments.
Kaia has also launched a Mini Dapp growth competition in collaboration with the LINE Dapp Portal, focusing on the rise of monthly active users and on-chain token holders. The Dapp Portal serves as an entry point for Mini Dapps, allowing users to access various Kaia ecosystem Dapps without leaving LINE.
2.2 Kaia Stablecoin Project
In May 2025, Kaia partnered with Tether to issue USDT natively on-chain. The first batch of native USDT has been integrated into the Mini Dapp ecosystem within LINE Messenger, enabling the daily use of stablecoins. Several mainstream exchanges have supported deposits and withdrawals of USDT-KAIA network.
The Kaia team is promoting the issuance plan of the Korean won stablecoin, which will inject more liquidity anchored to real assets into the ecosystem.
2.3 ecological investment progress
In April 2025, the Kaia Foundation received lead investments from 1kx and Blockchain Capital, with participation from Galaxy Digital, IDG Capital, and others. This collaboration will support the market promotion of LINE NEXT and Mini Dapp services, strengthening Kaia's global influence.
2.4 ecological strategic cooperation
Kaia continues to expand strategic cooperation in dimensions such as data visualization, secure custody, and asset circulation:
2.5 Developer Support and Community Building
Kaia strengthens the developer experience through tools, content incentives, and educational promotion.
3. Excellent Project Cases of the Kaia Ecosystem
3.1 Excellent projects that have completed TGE
3.2 Other promising leading projects
These projects showcase the competitiveness of the Kaia ecosystem in core areas such as gaming, setting a benchmark for Web3 applications in more verticals. As the ecosystem continues to improve, Kaia is expected to further strengthen its leadership position in the Web3 space.
