Oasys Releases New Technology Roadmap to Address Three Major Challenges in Chain Games Development
Oasys Releases Technical Roadmap, Aiming to Address Three Major Challenges in the Development of Blockchain Games
The Japanese gaming public chain Oasys recently released its latest technical roadmap, aiming to address the technological challenges and user pain points faced by the current development of blockchain games. The roadmap focuses on three core areas: application data availability, layer two interoperability, and ecosystem scalability.
As a platform focused on bringing Web2 players and game companies into the Web3 era, Oasys continues to build underlying infrastructure for the blockchain gaming track. Currently, Oasys has partnered with several industry giants, and its ecosystem includes nearly 60 games.
Despite the continuous improvement of blockchain underlying technology in recent years, there are still some technical shortcomings in practice. Oasys's update of the technical roadmap aims to address these challenges.
Technical Challenges Facing the Development of Blockchain Games
1. Continuity of game assets
In traditional Web2 games, if the game server goes offline, players' in-game assets will disappear. Blockchain technology offers a possible solution to this problem. However, with the popularity of modular architecture, new challenges have arisen: user assets may lack continuity.
The solution proposed by Oasys is to mirror game assets on Layer 1 from Layer 2, ensuring that user assets remain secure even if Layer 2 data is discarded.
2. Interoperability of Layer 2
Oasys's Layer2 is called Verse Layer, and each Layer 2 network is an independent "small universe". However, the interoperability between Layer 2s is limited, which poses challenges for the transfer of data and assets.
To address this issue, Oasys plans to introduce a cross-chain bridge, utilizing a universal data format and standardizing APIs to achieve seamless interoperability between different Layer 2s.
3. Ecosystem Scalability
Building and maintaining a sustainable ecosystem is a significant challenge. Oasys closely collaborates with partners to provide them with the necessary tools and resources to support ecosystem development and reduce technical barriers.
The Oasys Verse Development Kit (Oasys VDK) allows enterprises to quickly access high-quality Layer 2, accelerating project launches and focusing on content development.
Technical Roadmap: Short-term and Mid-term Planning
Oasys's technical roadmap includes short-term (within 1 year) and medium-term (2-3 years) plans:
Short-term Plan
Mid-term Plan
Oasys has made progress in short-term planning. In May, Oasys launched the L2 chain XPLA Verse, with several well-known games going on-chain simultaneously. In addition, the blockchain game based on "Captain Tsubasa" has also been officially launched on Oasys.
In terms of ecosystem expansion, Oasys has partnered with Japan's SBI Group this year to enhance its influence in Japan's crypto gaming and NFT market. In February, Oasys collaborated with Kakao's Web3 gaming division, Metabora SG, to support the game publisher's expansion into the Japanese market.
Oasys's series of initiatives demonstrate its technological innovation and strategic vision in the blockchain gaming sector, while highlighting its determination to collaborate with industry giants to promote the development of blockchain games. As the technological roadmap is gradually implemented, Oasys is moving towards the vision of establishing global standards for blockchain games, creating value for players and developers, while bringing new experiences and opportunities to the gaming industry.
